Going on trips with him and Learning different things. He always seen good in people and push them to their limits. He will always be missed.

Roy Hummel was a gentle giant. He always would help any way possible. His mother was a wonderful, hardworking lady and he built her a new house when she was in her 80's and he wanted no credit for this. Even though I did not see him often he was always kind, caring and had wonderful stories to tell about the family. He will be missed.

I am so sad to hear of Roy’s passing. Back in our early years in Prairie Grove, he officiated over some fierce battles on the basketball court. Roy was always professional and always a friend, on or off the court. He was one of the first people to reach out when Mike got sick, and that was so appreciated.
My prayers to his family.

I first met me Hummel when I was in 6th grade and he had my brother bring home an ice cream bucket of baby chicks. From that moment on he was on me to judge poultry for him in FFA. From
Various antics of judging for different schools to judging for Farmington. Pushing me to
Get my state farmer in FFA and calling me Sarge when I mentioned joining ROTC in college. Long conversations about life and make the best out of it while keeping family as a priority. Many calls at night to discuss the Washington County Fair poultry barn and things we wanted to tryout. Endless encouragement along with scoldings when needed. Telling the coaches he had girls that could
Play football better than their current team. He will forever hold a special place in my heart I will forever be Hummel’s kid! Betty we love you just as much and our prayers are with you.

Roy and I sponsored many events together at Farmington HS. He was the ultimate prankster who was always playing tricks on everyone. I have so many wonderful memories of him, even the year we spent cleaning up the Washington County fairground to earn money for the senior class trip! He was a great agri teacher, but an even greater human being. We teachers could always go to him when we had a serious problem or especially when we discovered a student in trouble and/ or in need. He was a “ father figure” to countless kids. I can still hear his giggle! God bless you Roy.

Roy, You'll be missed by so many. You're one of the things that the world got right. You had a way of knowing when someone needed a strong shoulder, and you always had one. Thanks for bringing me into Agri, and taking me under your wing when you knew I needed it. Thanks for keeping me busy with several different judging opportunities, and for encouraging me to be the FFA Sweetheart, or "Pig Queen" as you would call it. Lol! You have made this ragged old world a better place for me, and countless others by being courageous enough to be yourself, and to love us all. See you in Heaven Mr. Hummel.

Mr. Hummel what a great teacher and person. He was always one you could count on if you needed anything. He also had a sneaky side to him he loved to prank people and play jokes. I can remember him always doing something to the lady teachers when I was in high school. He was the type of person if you ever got the chance to meet him he would make a lasting impression on your life. Mrs. Betty you are a wonderful lady that was the perfect partner to this wonderful man together you all have done a lot of good things for our community. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Stacy

I have so many memories of Mr. Hummel, it's hard to pick a favorite: whether it was betting a coke on who would win a football game, being advised to avoid the "gyp-side" of the fairground, or Mr. Hummel funding a number of underclass girls as they attempted to buy particular football players at the "senior sale," just to name a few.
I got to talk to Mr. Hummel just a couple of months ago when his miniature horses got out and ended up in my yard. I helped him herd them back down the road. But, even at 82, he was still the same ol' Mr. Hummel. Always able to leave a grin on my face.

As any student of Mr Hummel will tell you, ole Roy came off as tough and gruff to challenge your best achievements, but it wasn't long before we realized there was a caring, compassionate center whenever he sensed someone in need. I'll always remember his tricksterish taunts, deep enjoyment of practical jokes, and that hilariously infectious giggle when he'd get tickled. I learned a lot about teaching and mentoring from Hummel that have served me well, and memories of legendary FFA shenanigans that we classmates still trade and laugh about over beers. Rest in peace, Roy, your legacy lives on in the countless lives you've touched.

FFA student and families in Arkansas knew the name Roy Hummel, they all did, the only thing bigger than that mischievous smile was his heart, and his dedication to Arkansas youth in agriculture. We are so thankful for him and his impact on our family , it is still prevalent in our lives today .

Most of my life lessons I learned in Agriculture and FFA under Roy's leadership and mentorship. From star greenhand to the FFA national convention and the many judging events across several states, Roy was one of the best men that I have been aquainted with and made a profound impact on where I am today as a person and leader. Missed immensly but never forgotten.

Mr. Hummel was one of our very best teachers at Farmington. I still remember his admonition to us in math class to THINK ! He'd frequently write it on the board for emphasis. And whether you were a student or a victim of one of his practical jokes, or both - he'd make you think - sometimes in self - defense! Bottom line - he got the job done.
My last memories of him was at a get together meal / party at the home of one of my classmates,
and the very last time I saw him I was visiting family at the cemetery as I frequently do when he pulled up behind me. We visited for a while just He and I. He'd seen me and took time from his busy day to come see me there. He'll never know how much I valued that. That was the kind of person, teacher, mentor, and friend he was to us.
