Obituary

Robert Leon Gregory, 80, a longtime resident of Farmington, AR, traded his earthly home for a heavenly one on Thursday, August 3rd, 2017, while in Fayetteville, AR.

Robert was born on October 12th, 1936, to Amos Benson and Ruby Mae Gregory (nèe: Mitchell), in Fayetteville, AR, into a large family.

From 1955-1959, Robert served in the United States Navy to the rank of First-Class Petty Officer in the Vietnam Conflict, specializing in Explosive Ordinance Demolition. The established Veteran then served another 9 years in the Naval Reserve doing the same job. He finished his military career after serving an additional 2 years in the Army National Guard in Fayetteville, AR, as a Staff Sargent.
In 1980, he moved his family from Riverside, California, to Farmington, Arkansas to be with family and return to the Ozarks he loved so dearly. It was in Farmington that he continued to raise his children; teaching them to drive, live and love; and it was in his beloved Northwest Arkansas that he finished his earthly life.

Among his many accomplishments, perhaps his proudest one was to serve at the LDS church as a member of the Priesthood. He was always ready to serve as a church brother wherever he went. No job was too small nor did he leave anything undone. He used to say, “I can fix anything but a broken heart; but I have two friends to help with that...”. He loved both his home and church families deeply. Serving others brought him great joy and he was well-known for his hospitality; literally giving the shirt off his back just to help someone or to see them smile.

Robert also had a deep love of animals and has rescued countless cats and dogs over the decades; giving them a ‘forever home’ that was filled with unconditional love, warmth, a full belly and lots of playing.

His heart was never too full to welcome in another family member, church friend or pet.

Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Ruth Gregory (nèe: Jones), and his second wife, Patsy Ann; his parents, Amos and Ruby Gregory and two siblings; Deloris Morris and A.B. Gregory.

Robert is survived by his...

Lost No More
“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.”
“My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish...”

Tributes

I had heard it through the grapevine that Robert made zappers and I decided that I would make an order for Bob to make me a couple of them for me. It turned out that he was a member of the church that I was at the time. He was and always be in spirit a wonderful soul. The world was and still is better for the example he was and how caring he was to help anyone who was in need. I consider for him a forever friend. My condolences go to his family.
