Dear Family, I had only known Robert for several years and during these years we shared stories about yesteryear and his military service but he never talked of his bravery. To each of his family you have my sincere sympathy however his pain is gone and he is walking with Jesus. God bless all.

I have spoken to many WW II veterans over the years to hear the stories of their patriotic heroism and the sacrifices they made for our nation. Yet of them all, I found Robert to be the most humble, pleasant, and remarkable of them all. The odds of surviving 35 bomber missions in WW II are infinitesimally small. But Robert was blessed of God and used mightily to protect our freedom. My wife, Shari, had him for a teacher and still talks about him teaching their class the Polka. My sister married Robert's son Lee and so I was privileged to see Robert on many occasions. He will be greatly missed and epitomizes bravery, patriotism, faith, family, humor, and a joyful attitude toward life. He and his generation will never come again, but they were precisely what America needed in its greatest hour of world crisis.

"The moving finger writes; and, having writ, moves on". Mr. Hall was a gentle man and a terrific teacher. What does Polka have to do with English? I still don't know, but it made his class alive. Rest in peace Mr. Hall. You have writ. Move on in peace.

Truly one of the most iconic teachers in FHS History. If a poll of alumni was taken asking their favorite or most memorable teacher, Mr Hall would be on ,if not at the top of the list. So many stories of his polka dancing or jumping on his desk to recite Ahab from Moby Dick. I've often thought Robin Williams character from Dead Poets Society was partially based on Mr Hall. He had a big influence on my life and I know thousands of others. A life very well lived!
