Randy Burris

On Monday, January 25, 2021, Larry Randall Burris, known as Randy to friends and Poppy to grandchildren and family , passed away after 77 years of a passionate life.

Randy was born on June 21, 1943 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. On June 10th of 1962, he married the love of his life, Mary Florence Brock. The two have been inseparable for 58 years and a half years. They are a couple full of love for Jesus and a heart to serve others. Together they sacrificed much for the good of others. They were known for their constant joy and consistent faith in Jesus Christ.

Randy was attending New Sulphur Free Will Baptist Church when he became a Christian on March 7, 1974. Randy spent 37 years preaching the word of God, during which he served as pastor at numerous churches in the Northwest Arkansas area. Prior to his death he was still preaching the word of the Lord.

Randy was known for his joking spirit and southern charm. You would always find him in his cowboy hat and boots. He loved to hunt and had even earned the triple trophy award multiple times. He made his own deer jerky which was treasured by all and he claimed every pot of chili was his best pot he ever made.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy Mitchell and LaRama (Winn) Burris and his sister Norma Lee Burris. Randy & Mary were a huge blessing to my parents. Randy never gave up on my Dad accepting Jesus. He visited Dad at home several times over the years. Mary would come too & visit with Mom, often bringing goodies. She usually sat with Mom at church. After Dad broke his hip & went into the Vereran’s Home, Randy visited him there. It was there that Daddy accepted Jesus at one of Randy’s visits!! I am forever grateful for Randy & Mary’s love & faithfulness to God, & how it poured out into the lives of my parents.????” “Blessed are the feet of them who bring the Good News!” Love & Prayers to Mary & Family

Randy and Mary were our pastors at Faith Freewill Baptist some years ago, Randy had a way of preaching that when you left, you felt like you had learned something and was changed by his message. I know he is rejoicing in his reward. We offer our prayers of comfort for the family.

Rev. Burris was a unique man; not many like him, he was as good man. I got aquinted with him through My Aunt. She had a high regard for Rev. Burris as he was her pastor in Rogers for a number of years back. And prior to leaving her home in Rogers she ask him to help her sell her place. That is just how much faith she had in him. She was a good judge of people. He did her funeral services back in May. He for sure is in heaven looking over the rest of us.

What do you say about someone who has had such a loving and positive influence over your life and the life of not only your immediate family but your church family. From when I was a small child at Zinnamon Church being baptized in Lee’s Creek to young adulthood when Pastor Randy solemnised my wedding, he and Mary was always a place of selfless comfort and wisdom. No matter how old I am or where I may be in life, Randy has always been and will always be my pastor. I’m extremely grateful to have such fond memories of my church family growing up. I will cherish them always. I have no doubt that there has been a great rejoicing in heaven for the return to home of one of God’s children. God Bless the Burris Family and prayers for their peace and comfort. Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise”. Luke 23:43

Our heart is very sad for all of your family. We are very happy for Randy'. He has many jewels in his crown. We remember several times during his sermons he would say when my body is laying here do not cry for me because I am in heaven. Then say Glory I am in Heaven as he kicked out his foot an scoot across the stage Love to all. God bless all of you.
