Obituary

Phyllis Jean Daugherty age 90 of Morrow, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 9, 2022. She was born December 11, 1931, in Marshall, Missouri.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma who relished spending time with her family. She was a long-time member of her church Morrow Valley Christian Fellowship and loved the Lord deeply. She spent many years passionately dedicated to prayer, reading her Bible, and pouring over any book or sermon she could find that celebrated Jesus as much as she did. You could usually find her cooking in her kitchen while softly singing hymns of praise.

Jean was a storyteller who took every chance she could get to recount her favorite memories of family and life, usually laughing just as hard the hundredth time she told a story as she had the first. She is leaving behind her a legacy of loving others well and enjoying the life you have been given. Her deepest desire in life was to serve and nurture those around her, which usually included feeding you your favorite foods until you couldn’t take any more.

In addition to her parents, Eva and Issac Rymel, Jean was preceded in death by her sister Doris Holcroft, and five brothers, Marion, Issac (Junior), Frank, Don, and Larry.

Jean is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Leo Daugherty; son Jim Daugherty and wife Sandy of Prairie Grove; daughter Dianna Spencer and husband Rock of Prairie Grove; daughter Pamela Parker and husband Stephen of Morrow; step-daughters Debbie Bauer and husband Richard of Manchester, Indiana, and Sandy Haywood and husband Joe of Warsaw, Indiana; and step-son Ron Daugherty of Mentone, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Jason Daugherty, Brandon Daugherty, Kyle Daugherty, Caleb Parker, Joshua Parker, Christina Smith, Kristin Spencer, Joey Haywood, Shawn Bellinger, Jonathan Haywood, Travena Pettit; and sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 23rd at 10 am at the Morrow Fire Station, 19783 Latta Road, Canehill, Arkansas, 72717. Please stay to join the family with a lunch of soup and salad as we grieve together and celebrate a life that impacted us all greatly.
