My thoughts and prayers are with you Ruth and Scott.

We love you all. You are an awesome family. I remember Pete telling me several times over the years how very much he enjoyed being a part of the Miller family. I completely agree with him. Pete remarked on a few occasions how wonderful it was that a family remained as close as the Miller clan and that their reunions and dinners have lived on for so many years. We are blessed to have each other and we were blessed to have had Pete. We will miss Pete. Our lives are richer for having known him. May God bless and keep you all. Love you

Brother Pete was the pastor at the First Baptist Church in Vandervoort, Arkansas, in the late Fifties and early Sixties when I was a small child. He was one of the best preachers that church ever had, and his family was very nice as well. He will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends.

Pete had a great talent of drawing people in so he could talk to them about Christ. He got your attention however he could, then he talked to you about whatever you were interested in, and he didn't shut until he talked to you about the Lord. It was such an amazing sight to watch Pete in acton. He truly believed in taking Gods word to ALL people.I remember him starting A Ride To Church; kids were picked up in an old pickup truck with benches in the back to sit on. The old Pickup truck belonged to Bud Ashcraft. I remembner him holding vacation Bible school out in the county at the Old McCauley School, and then having a brush arbor meeting there at night. I remember him helping cut logs to be sawed into lumber to build the Church we still use at Vandervoort. He was a very hard working, giving person because he loved God, there fore he loved us. There is no way to count the number of lives God changed through Pete.

Uncle Pete was one of a kind -- the first minister I really knew as a person. He was always entertaining, naturally funny and wonderful with all kinds of people. I so appreciated all the love I always felt from him. I will miss him. I´m sure he´s livening up heaven.

Growing up with Becca, I spent many nights with Pete and Bonita. The summer before my senior year, they took me with them to Centrifuge in North Carolina. Pete had a great sense of humor that kept me laughing. After a bug hit our windshield, Pete said, "I bet he won't have the guts to do that again." And Pete always took the scenic routes because he never was in too big of a hurry to enjoy God's beautiful creation. It was a very wonderful and memorable trip!! And because of that trip, I found my life calling: Deaf Education.

How blessed we in Washington-Madison Assn. to have had the Petty family among us both as a pastor and then as Director of Missions. What a wonderful job he did in that capacity. I loved Pete's bubbly personality and his ultimate kindness. How he loved his Bonita and their children. May you as his family just bask in your loving memories of your blessed days together.

(Ruth Ann Hoover for Laura Sadler) Mama read about Bro. Petty's death in the Messenger and wanted you all to know how special he was to our church at Friendship and how much we loved your family. I bet he is having coffee with Beno, Lamoin and Earnest--in heaven now! Love and Prayers to all, Laura Sadler
