Jon Christopher Babb
59, of Springfield, IL passed away on Thursday June 17th 2021 at the home of his son in Mesa, AZ. Private services will be held at a later date.
Chris was born on August 11, 1961 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to John and Beth Babb.
Chris grew up in Versailles, IL. He graduated from Brown County High School in Mt. Sterling, IL in 1979. After high school:
In 1988 he graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR where he received a Bachelors of Science in Education.
In 1997 he graduated from Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO where he received a Bachelors in Bible & Ministry.
Joined the Army in 1989 and served for 2 years.
He taught History, Sociology, and Psychology at Brown County High School.
He was a minister in Lawton, KS & Rochester, IL.
He finished his career working for the State of Illinois.
Chris married Jodi on December 17th, 1983 in Quincy, IL. They were happily married for 37 odd years. Chris was a member of the Christian faith and attended Hope Church in Springfield, IL.
Chris had a love for music, especially The Beatles and U2. He played the guitar for many years and loved attending concerts with his wife. His ultimate pleasure came from spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He especially loved making them smile and laugh with his unique wit.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, John Babb.
Chris is survived by his wife Jodi of Springfield, IL; his mother Beth Babb of Jacksonville, IL; his son Jordan (Rachel) Babb of Mesa, AZ; his daughter Taylor (Greg) Moore of Los Angeles, CA; his brother Mike (Chrissy) Babb of Mt. Sterling, IL; his brother Mark (Michelle) Babb of Jacksonville, IL; his grandchildren Alaina, Miles, Paige, and Grant Babb; and his nieces and nephews Jami Schuwerk, Josh Babb, Molly Burton, and Caleb Babb.
