Seeing all the fish in the video brought to mind a few of the fishing trips I went with jerry on in the 60's. One especially comes to mind. We were fishing some small ponds near Folsom Lake for Bass. Jerry was catching all the fish as usual. I'd ask what he was using and he's show me the lure or bait. I'd switch to what he was using and wouldn't catch a damn thing. This went on all day. I'd keep switching to whatever Jerry was using and watch him catch the fish while I just cleaned my line.

Last year while we were visiting our daughter in Fayettville I called Jerry up just to say hello. He was out on the pond but when he got to the phone he was just like I remembered him. Come on out, sure you can bring the grandson, how is Roseville, you still working, how is such and such. We talked for 30 min. I said i was short on time but we would be back next year and I will sure bring the grandson, my scrapbook of railroad times and we would switch out the yard one more time. So it will not be. I was the Engineer on the Reading turn when Jerry was Hurt. So thank you for the invite Jerry I was truly looking forward to My trip to Fayettville this year and a bit of fishing. Melvin P. Jones

Jerry and I worked together for many years on the railroad. I was his engineer and he was my conductor. I'm sorry I can't be there in person, but my condolance to him and his family.

A really independent cuss who loved farming more than herding boxcars. Great sense of humor. One of the best 3-card LOO players I ever saw.

I remember Jerry as a lifetime friend of my brother Terry. Not everyone has someone that is such a good friend for so many years. On a personal note, my first memory of Jerry, Barb, and girls was in Roseville, CA when I babysat for them in the 60's! Jerry introduced me to eating frogs!! My husband Bill remembers that fishing pond on the Arkansas property. We appreciate the hospitality on our visit to Arkansas a few years ago. Our sympathy goes out to Barb and the girls - sad to lose someone so young.

Hi Debbie, I am so sorry for you and your family's loss. I never got the opportunity to meet your father, but knowing you as a good friend and co-worker leaves no doubt in my mind how very much he meant to you. I see the pics on this website.....MY what a husband, father and fisherman! This guy had what few people get out of life, and in every image of him, he was smiling. That right there tells me alot. May you and yours find comfort and solice at this time. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all. Pat

Uncle Jerry. What a sad moment when the good ones leave us. You were always there for us like a guardian Angel. You were their for us since we moved to Arkansas in 92. You took us under your wing and never let us go. You made fishing a fun sport. Even when we didn't catch anything. It was the idea we had fun. It breaks my heart you are not here with us anymore. Always remember, save a spot for us. We will be there someday and I know as you did in 92, you will open your heart to us again. This is so hard seeing your video and not break down. This was the best man on earth. Just so glad we got the opportunity to have you as our friend. We will be together again someday. Barbara, we love you so much. We are here for you anytime you need us. Our arms are as opened as Jerry's was for us, now for you. Heaven got the "gold" when it got Jerry for sure. Our prayers are always with you and your family. Remember, friends are forever no matter how far we are. We are a heart beat away. Miss you uncle Jerry. Thanks for all the good memories and fun. A shoulder to lean on and a fishing pole on the other. I wished they had Email in Heaven! Dianne

Well old buddy. looks like no one has visited in about 7 months. Just looked in to see if anyone else had signed. One thing nice about the internet. This will be floating around in hperspace for eternity. I plan on visiting PG this summer to look over the land and it sure will be strange without your "Hey TG" greeting when I arrive. I don't know how long this link will be accessable, but I will check in from time to time. Mom died this Christmas so there wasn't much celebration here either.

Just wanted to stop in and check up on ya grandpa. I miss you so much. Still hearing all kinds of stories at the railroad about your "Good Ol Days". No one has really stopped by here latley, so I thought I would. Mom's doing better now, but she misses you. Without you, her relationship with grandma has completely fallen apart. I hope that maybe there is a way for you to read this, or at least find out about it and fix it. Mom needs you help. Well, more grandma than mom, really, she's lost her mind.. I love you Grandpa, I will check in again soon.
Becky Warren - Grandaughter
Hey buddy. I talked to Barb on the phone a few weeks ago. She's doing better but still chokes up when we mention some old experience. She told me she has met a local rancher that she likes. Nope, no marriage in the future, just a good companion who really treats her good. He lives towards apple hill somewhere. Just wanted you to know she is doing Okay and even though she has met someone, you are still on her mind and in her heart.I'll be visiting next year. Couldn't make it this year because of a lot of medical crap.
