Tributes

I was just thinking about Helen the other day. My mom had a good friend in your mom. I am sorry to hear about this Long time memories of her and your family.
Karen Freedle - Friend
I once wrote a poem to my mom and in it I said that she was not the most beautiful woman in the world, then went on to list some of her good qualities. I know, my bad. Well, I am here to tell you that I was wrong. My mother was the most beautiful person I know. There was beauty in the eyes that twinkled with humor and in the smile never far from her face. There was beauty in her hands as she helped care for the sick and dying. There was beauty in her voice when singing hymns to her Lord in church and while working in her kitchen at home. There was beauty in her arms always ready for hugs and kisses. I have lost not only a mother but the best friend a woman could have. I love you Mom and will miss you every day. I am glad you are with Dad again, and I know you will be waiting for me at the gates of heaven someday. Love, Diane

Granny, You were always waiting for us on the porch with arms wide open and I know when I get to heaven you will be there with your arms open again and I will sit and comb your hair as you sing Twenty Froggies. Your smile lit up a room and I could always count on you to take me home when I got a little home sick when staying with you and PawPaw. I can still hear you holler Night John Boy to us at bedtime, holler at us to get out of the creek and come in for lunch and still hear your voice singing Hymns in church. So Good Night Mary Ellen and I will be expecting my hug, kiss and ride to check cows when we meet again. I Love You Shug. Steph

I will miss you Helen so much. I thought the world of you and Carl! The many days that we visited down at the Dutch Mills store and listened as you and Carl would tell of the old times at Dutch Mills! On Halloween you would always have Jima a special treat for her bag. The one thing I took to heart and will always do is when you told me not to hold back on my towels that I had put back from our housewarming. You said when your house burnt that the towels and things were lost. So we use all our towels!! I love you and will see you in Heaven so we can sit and talk and laugh!

We will miss you sweet lady. You were in the same class at school as my Mom,Verona Belle, and you graduated together. What fun you two had at your class reunions. You were such a good neighbor to Uncle Myrl Swain through the years. He thought the world of you and Carl. We miss you in October when the hayride goes by and you are not there to shine your flash llight and wave to us. As Uncle Myrl said before he passed "SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE"

It is with sadness I say good bye to my mother, but I rejoice in the fact she is finally home. People will not remember what you say, but they remember how you made them feel. You had a heart of compassion and a gift of love which you shared freely and without reservation to everyone. While in the Maples at Har-Ber Meadows, you always said , "If you can't be at home, this is a good place". You made many friends and was an adopted GRANNY to many. They provided you with loving care and a temporary home. Well now you are safe in your heavenly home. I can hear you say "Home at last, here I want to stay". So we will wait till the day we can see your smile, and get your hugs, and you say to us, "welcome come sit awhile". I love you and will miss you terribly.
