Obituary

Gwyndlyn Jean (Jones) Cook, 72 a resident of Summers, AR passed gently away on the morning of July 9th, 2020. She was born in Pittsburg, CA on April 2, 1948 to Leon Smith Jones and Mildred Cleo (Williams) Jones.

Gwyn was born a true California girl. No matter where she lived she was always drawn back west. She shared many stories over the years of racing dune buggies in the desert and how it was a very memorable time of her life. She worked a good part of her life as a certified beautician and gave $10 haircuts in her kitchen, but spent most of her days as a homemaker, raising her children, gardening, sewing clothes and cooking. In later years she discovered the joy of arrowhead hunting. This became her passion. She spent countless hours digging in the dirt only to find a "chip," but it was worth it to her because occasionally she would stumble upon that beautiful arrow-shaped artifact. She ended up with a magnificent collection that is displayed in her home today.
Anyone of her friends will tell you she was an unbelievably selfless and compassionate person. She took in every stray animal that came along as well as any person who needed a place to stay and a hot meal. She gave all she had no matter what it cost her. She simply had the softest, biggest heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Ronald Jones and Hershal (George) Jones, one son David Flanagan and her precious canine companion Doc.

Survivors include companion David Rahner of the home, one brother Preston Jones and wife Judy of Palm Bay, FL, two daughters Tami Cossey of Tulsa, OK and Kara Maberry of Prairie Grove, AR. Five precious grandchildren Shanece Wilson, Ashley Kirk, Dalton Reed, Vanessa Reed and Jenna Maberry. Seven great grandchildren Zaylynn Baer, Alexa Pena, Ryan Weatherford, Serenity Reed, Finlay Howard, Ryder Kirk and Abilene Kirk. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also blessed with a host of close friends including lifelong friends Tracey Irwin and Sharon Cook.

There will be a memorial service to be announced at a later time.
