Tributes

There were so many beautiful memories with my dad . He was a very intelligent man. I never knew until I was older how amazing he truly was . My favorite memories were Christmas, he always made Sure we had the best of everything, Santa always came and he was ALWAYS SMILING during the holidays. One of the funniest memories was on vacation one year us kids were laughing so much and just being silly and he finally said in the “Pop’s voice” alright you kids knock it off!! No more LAUGHING!! Needless to say we started laughing more!! Just a couple of my best memories of him but the one that touches me to my soul, is he raised me, not always the easiest chore, but he did and he didn’t have to but he did and I will always be great full. He will always be my dad and he will always be in my heart and mind . Love you dad you will be truly missed.
Cody Olvera - Daughter
As I’ve grown older I have come to appreciate Pops as one of the greatest influences in my life, a true hero. His impact will stay with me forever. He was an extraordinary and stubborn man. The strength of his character always showed, even in times of criticism. I am grateful for his support, his life-defining lessons, his sage advice, his loving, and not so loving words of wisdom. He taught us the value of family, the importance of hard work, always giving 100%, and even a good nap. I am thankful so many of the things I knew as a child my own children also got to experience with him, like good music or a game of basketball out on the driveway. Growing up he didn’t always tell us he loved us, we just knew. Over the years as my kids got to know him, each time we left they would tell him they loved him, and remind him he should say it back! Looking back on all the memories of family vacations, holidays, or a simple golf game on tv, I think of the time we spent together and the lessons I learned along the way. He genuinely invested his time in me, to help mold me into the person I am today. I am eternally grateful for his time, it was the greatest gift.
