Garry “Wayne” Sellers

Wayne has been my brother in law since I was 9 years old. How can I begin to say how influential he was in my life? He not only answered my questions but encouraged them…even when my own 3 brothers and sister ignored my musings and often wanted me to “get lost!”:) I would say, “can I ask you a question?” To which he would say, “ sure”. Then he’d add, “you’ll never know the answer if you don’t ask the question!” If he ever said a cross word to me, I can’t remember it. He wasn’t a man of a lot of words but he made every word count. His Christ-like spirit was evident in how, without people even knowing it, he did for all of us. He just quietly worked in the background to take care of those he loved and served. He was truly a man after God’s own heart. Everything he thought, said and did was through the filter of living for Christ. One thing that we all noticed about him was … he was such a hardworking man but…he looked just as fresh in the evening as he did early in the morning regardless of the job he was doing. He could be working with cows, horses, chicken, gardening or doing yard work and somehow he seldom got dirty. That always fascinated me because my 3 brothers came in filthy after a days work.:) Ne not only loved my sister but treasured her! He was a true partner to her in life, work and play. He was proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and I’m sure he answered many of their questions too!?? I will miss Wayne’s presence and his grin. I will celebrate the life he lived that helped point me and others to Christ and thank God that I got to live most of my life with Garry Wayne Sellers in it. He was a treasure!!??
