Tributes

My brother, Fred, was not only a wonderful, caring person, but was a father figure to me, also. There was a time when he took my brother, sister. and I into his home when we were without housing. He worked two jobs to support us for many months. His positive attitude in all circumstances of life, his laughter, and his love will never be forgotten.
Retha Higley - Sister
Heaven better watch out cause things are going to get crazy up there with Freddie and Zona together again! What a lovely, loving couple they were and the best friends we've ever had. Their huge, wonderful family was blessed to have them these many years. See you soon, Freddie old friend!
Ken and Barbara Jacobs - VERY good friends
Freddie and Zona were the best neighbors we ever did have. They were like family. I borrowed eggs and sugar and in addition we received life stories of all sorts, the BEST stories. We loved Freddie and Zona so, so much. They loved on our kids and their lives are woven into ours and our memories on Northaven Street. We are praying for the family.
Kristy Hodge - Neighbor
Freddie was by birth, my brother. But he was so much more to me. He was a father figure, a mentor and my best friend. He was always there with a joke or a funny comment. We'd banter, "My brother is better looking than your brother!" He'd reply "well my bother is smarter than your brother." I joined the military service to be just like him. We drifted apart but reconnected thru music and computers later in life. Some of our best times were shared as creators and band members of the Goose Creek Boys. Fred wrote many songs that we sang in the group. Fred was a major influence in my life. I know that he has touched many lives and that he will be missed by many..
Tom Haney - Brother
Freddie Ray was my dad's best friend and the whole family loved him. He was a leader and somebody to look up to. He gave me a lot of gifts when I was younger and I remember he gave me my first guitar. He was an inspiration to my entire family and will be very missed.
Mark Hiser - Uncle
You taught me to dance in the living room in San Diego. You let me swim all day in the pool!!! We lived in Los Angeles and when we drove to visit you and our family in San Diego I would get butterflies in my stomach just knowing how much fun I would have with you and Aunt Zona!! I love you Uncle Freddie, and I wish every person on earth could have an Uncle Freddie, because it would make the world so much better.
Laura Hiser - My Uncle Freddie!!!
