Obituary
Doris Arlene Dowell, Age 81, a resident of Canehill, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Circle of Life hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born September 11, 1938 in Clark County, Oklahoma. The daughter of Arvel and Irene Simmons.
They moved to Torrance, CA when she was 5 years old. She grew up and lived in Torrance most of her life, and made many lifetime friends. A few years after retirement she moved to Canehill, Arkansas to live near her oldest daughter.
She was a Daughter, Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma (Ggma), Aunt and Friend.
Arlene was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited when she became “Ggma” to her four great grandchildren. Arlene loved holidays and family gatherings; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company. Leaving traditions, values and great food to be carried on for decades to follow. Her fried chicken was one of the best.
She was breast cancer survivor. But later diagnosed with lung cancer. She fought the fight, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Trying to stay strong for her family, her colorful personality and tough spirt still radiated through.
Arlene was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughters Daylene Reed (Mike), DeAnn Kichline (Scott) and her son Trent Dowell (Laurie). Granddaughter, LaRey Bond (Sean), Grandsons Ian Dowell (Amber), Dawson Kichline, Corey Dowell and Stephen Dowell. Great-Granddaughters, Addisyn Olson, Caleesi Bond and Brienna Bond, Great-Grandson Brody Dowell. And numerous nieces and nephews. And many lifetime friends. And her beloved pets, Max and Zoy.
She was the matriarch, and she leaves an amazing legacy of strength and perseverance.
