Chester Hill, Jr.

Chester Hill, Jr., of Prairie Grove, Arkansas passed away on October 6, 2019 at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was 74 years old.

Chester Hill Jr. was born in Sayre, PA in 1945 to Chester Hill Sr. and Nellie Ellis Hill. He graduated from SRU High School—East Smithfield, PA. He was a member of 4-H and was awarded the Grange Award for Agriculture when he graduated from high school. He grew up working on farms which would became his profession; he worked on dairy farms. Shortly after graduation, he would enter in the Army by draft in 1965 taking his basic at Ft. Jackson, SC and training in Ammo Storage and Disposal at Redstone Arsnel in Alabama. He held rank of Specialist 4. He would serve from 1966-1967 in Vietnam in the Cameranh Bay area. He returned home after and returned to farming once more. He married Veronica Lattimer on October 28,1967 and they were married for 51 years. He loved to work outdoors and liked to stay busy. He enjoyed walking, reading the newspaper, and sweets like molassess cookies, homemade applesauce, and homemade bread. He was a quiet man but was well liked by all he met. He had a great sense of humor. His quiet nature was a strength his family took to heart. He will be missed by us all.

He is predeceased by his wife Veronica L. Hill of 51 years; brothers in law Dale Irvin and Nick Jannett.

Chester is survied by his daughters both of Fayetteville, Evelyn Witt and Lynda Davis; sister, Alma Irvin; Pete Steele, his cousin he was raised with; Shirly Jannett, sister in law; John Lattimer (Nancy), brother in law; and Will Lattimer (Carol), brother in law. His surviving grandchildren include Elizabeth (Jeremiah) Shifflett; Kayla (Wade) Bradley, and Andrew S. Witt. His great grandchildren include Beatrix and Issac Shifflett and Eric Bradley. He is also survived by several friends, cousins, and other extended family.
