Tributes

Jayne, my heart weeps for you and your family. I remember so many good times with you and Phil. On the lake, at the zoo, with the grandbabies and so many family events. Love ya and remember that I am here for you.

I am so sorry for your loss, and extend my sincere condolences to your family. Although I did not know Mr. Davis personally, your beautiful video tribute clearly indicates that he was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be sorely missed by many. It is painful losing such dear ones to death for we want to live and enjoy life with those we love. Who of us would not bring such ones back to us if we could? But the scriptures comfort us, for they reassure us that we can see our dead loved ones again. The Bible teaches that most people who have died will be resurrected. Jesus Christ himself promised that "those in the memorial tombs will...come out." (John 5:28, 29) In harmony with God's original purpose, those resurrected humans will have the opportunity to live on a paradise earth. (Luke 23:43) This promised future includes perfect health and everlasting life for obedient humans. The Bible reassures us that "the righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it." (Psalm 37:29) Other scriptures that bear witness to this are Job 14:14, 15; Luke 7:11-17; and Acts 24:15. Please take comfort in this hope and the future joy it holds out to us who, for now, grieve the loss of these we hold dear. May you continue to receive an abundance of love and emotional support during this difficult period. Most sincerely, Charvian

I knew Dave best when we were both a lot younger and fearless. Spent many hours with him riding motorcycles and tearing up the countryside in that fast Mercury he had in high school. We hunted together and spent a lot of time in the woods. He was fun to be around and I was never quite sure what we were getting in to when we'd start out on some adventure or other. But it was always fun and I'll always remember him as a good friend.

I'm so sorry that I was out of the country and could not attend the memorial service, but am fortunate to have seen and visited with Phil a couple of times in the last two months. Although I will miss Phil, I am glad that his suffering has finally ended. As a man of the outdoors, I know that he was not happy being cooped up in the house during his illness, unable to get out into nature that he loved so much. My love goes out to my dear sweet sister Jayne and her family.

Dave and I had very many good times together. We go back to a time when there wasn't much of life's problems to worry about. I will always cherish the time we spent together and having known him. Dave would do anything for anyone. I am grateful that I spoke with him recently. He will live on within me.

I had lost touch with Phil and his siblings over the years. He was my second cousin. His father, Gay, and my mother, Sylvia, were first cousins. We lived on the hill above Phil's grandparents store at Brashears Junction. My great Uncle Otto and Aunt Mae were his grandparents. I have fond memories of playing with my cousins when we were kids. I was saddened to learn of his passing. Sincere condolences to his family.
