Avis Colleen McMurry-Hellman, 65, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born April 5, 1954 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, the daughter of Herman Isaac and Neva Ruth (Barnes) McMurry.
Colleen graduated from Prairie Grove High School in 1972 and pursued many career paths, spending the last several years as a retiree.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Michael McMurry, a sister Letha Sharp, and a niece Angela Scott.
Survived by her husband August Hellman; two daughters Kelly Blundell and her husband Harrison and Kerry Johnson and her husband Chris; grandchildren Mia and Lilah Blundell and Avery, Alivia and Cordelia Johnson; one brother Leonard Patrick “Mac” McMurry and his wife Glenda; two sisters Wilda McMurry, Nova Phillips and her husband Paul; several nieces and nephews.
Colleen absolutely always lived life to it's fullest, with caring, kindness and quick wit, assuredly passed on from her mother Neva, who was the great matriarch of her family. Her greatest loves in life were spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, and caring for her plants, her dog Nonah, and her several cats, past and present. She was a giver, helping anyone in need, and donating to many local charities in the Northwest Arkansas area.
Colleen's wishes were to be cremated and her remains to be spread among the places she enjoyed spending her time the most. There will be no formal funeral services, however friends and family are welcome to drop in during an end of life celebration on Sunday, September 29 from 1:00-3:00 pm at her sister Nova Phillip's home in Farmington, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Prairie Grove Pound.
